What is a packing list?
A packing list helps the buyer and logistics team identify and check the packages in a shipment. It records physical packing details and should agree with the related invoice and the goods actually packed.
Key fields
- Shipper and consignee
- The sending and receiving companies.
- Document references
- Packing list number, invoice reference and shipment date.
- Marks and package IDs
- Labels or identifiers used on the actual packages.
- Contents and quantity
- Products and units contained in each package group.
- Package count
- Number of packages in each non-overlapping group.
- Net and gross weight
- Total product and packed weights for each group.
- Dimensions and CBM
- Length, width and height per package, and total volume.
